Changes in higher education through people to people cooperation
The Trans-European mobility scheme for university studies is a program of the European Commission – Education and Training, which funds projects between the higher education sector in the EU and its 26 partner countries to facilitate university modernisation, mutual learning between regions and peoples and understanding between cultures. The Tempus partner regions are the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
The Tempus program funds cooperation projects in the areas of curriculum development and innovation, teacher training, university management, and structural reforms in higher education. It puts special emphasis on the mobility of academic and administrative staff from higher education institutions, both from the EU and the partner countries. The Tempus Program includes three different actions: Joint European Projects, Structural and Complementary Measures, Individual Mobility Grants.
Joint European Projects(JEPs) aim to increase cooperation and network-building between actors in higher education in EU Member States and partner countries, and help the higher education sector to propagate its knowledge outside academic institutions. Projects can support universities in applying the principles of the 'Bologna Process', for example by implementing the new two-level education system, and the European Credit Transfer System.
